Help & Texting Guide

Just text RxBuddy like a person.

There's no menu to memorize. Write what you mean, in your own words, and RxBuddy figures it out. The keywords below are optional shortcuts — every one of them also works as a plain sentence.

Getting started

The three words everyone should know

HELP

A quick cheat-sheet of keywords, plus a link back to this page.

STOP

Pauses all texts immediately. Your account and data stay safe.

START

Resumes texts whenever you're ready to come back.

Logging doses

Tell RxBuddy you took your medicine

When a reminder arrives, reply any way that feels natural. TAKEN, DONE, YES, and SKIP all work — and so does a normal sentence.

TAKENDONESKIPLATER

Took it!

I took my metformin about an hour late, around 9:30

Skipping tonight — the doctor said to hold it before my procedure

I took everything this morning except the vitamin D

RxBuddy understands late doses, partial doses, and batch answers like "took both." If you skip, it may gently ask why — that context helps your care circle understand what's going on.

Managing medicines

Add, remove, and review medications by text

No forms. Describe the medicine and RxBuddy sets it up, confirms with you, and starts the reminders.

ADDREMOVEMEDS

Add Lipitor 20mg, once a day at 9pm

My doctor took me off the lisinopril

MEDS

Here's your current list: • Lipitor (20mg) — 9:00 PM • Metformin (500mg) — 8:00 AM, 8:00 PM …

Snap a photo instead. Text a picture of the prescription label or pill bottle and RxBuddy will read it, propose the medication and schedule, and ask you to confirm before saving anything.

Removals always require a YES confirmation before anything is deleted, and everyone in your care circle is notified when the medication list changes.

Reminders & schedules

Change times, days, and how RxBuddy talks to you

Schedules don't have to be simple. Every-other-day, weekdays only, tapers, and end dates are all fine — just describe them.

TIMESTYLE

Move my metformin reminder to 8am

I only take the methotrexate on Saturdays

The prednisone is a taper — 40mg for 5 days, then 20mg for 5 days, then stop

The antibiotic ends next Thursday

Be more professional with me

You can stop going so easy on me — I need tough love

Feeling side effects? Text SIDEEFFECT or just say "the new pill is making me dizzy." RxBuddy notes it, checks in on you, and can flag it for your care circle.

Travel & time zones

Reminders that follow you across time zones

Tell RxBuddy where you're headed and when you'll be back. Reminders shift to local time automatically, then shift home again.

TRAVEL

I'm in Denver until next Friday

Flying to London tomorrow for two weeks

I'm back home now

For trusted contacts

Caring for someone? Text on their behalf.

Trusted contacts get missed-dose alerts and can check in, and contacts with edit access can manage the medication list — all by text.

DASHBOARDMEDSALERTSMUTE

How is Mom doing this week?

Did Dad take his evening meds yesterday?

Add amlodipine 5mg for Mom, mornings at 8

Remove the fish oil from Dad's list

Just to confirm — remove Fish Oil (1000mg) from Robert's medications? Reply YES to confirm or NO to keep it.

ALERTS 2 HOURS

MUTE vitamin d

ALERTS controls how long after a missed dose you get notified (e.g. "ALERTS 45" for 45 minutes, or "ALERTS 2 HOURS FOR lipitor"). MUTE silences alerts for low-stakes medications. Text DASHBOARD any time for a link to the family dashboard on the web.

Every change is transparent. When anyone adds, removes, or reschedules a medication, the patient and all trusted contacts get a text describing the change and who made it.

Account & billing

Plans, pricing, and your account
